Guess who Grandpa has in the bag now? Yep, its baby Delaney! She begins the second generation of the now famous BagBaby.

Our neighbor across the lake, Sam, had his 5th birthday party on the Collierville Square at Wish Memories. Sam was born in Ukraine and adopted by our neighbors along with his older sister Claire when he was 4 yrs old. Sam's 5th birthday was his first one he ever got to celebrate! The video is of the kids racing to find buried treasure. Kids could choose to be a super hero or a diva.

This video was made the night Holly was born Dec 15, 2008. In fact, it was just after the girls got out of the tub that Adam called and said she had arrived. I dressed Delaney and her and I rushed to the hospital to see the beautiful new Mallory-Huff baby.

Rick hates these photos of himself. He thinks he looks really old. He hadn't got to doing his hair yet, and it looks crazy. He begged me to take them off the page. Ahh, not yet...its fun to see him squirm!

The Monster Mash Gets Her Movin'

What can you do with yarn?

We decided to try making yarn locks! I watched some YouTube videos on how to braid it into the girls' hair, and then we tried it. Wasn't too difficult, just VERY time consuming. We started Naomi's hair Saturday afternoon about 4:30 and didn't finish by eleven, so we put her to bed. Woke up Sunday and started again, hoping to be done by church time. That wasn't to be, so we stayed home while Dad and Fiona went. In all it took 11 hours to do hers. Fiona's took a little longer because I messed up one side by grabbing too little a section of hair so I had to go back and re-do it. We don't know how long its gonna last, but I'm hoping at least 3 weeks. We shall see. The girls love their long hair. Fiona's favorite way to wear it is hanging in her face. That's okay around the house, but we make her pull it back out of her eyes when she goes to school or church. I'm guessing it would be about $75-$100 if we went to a salon and had them do it, per girl. It cost us $3.25 for the skane of yarn.

Shannon in Kindergarten

This is my kindergarten class photo from 1968. Me, back row center, tallest in my class. I remember I was afternoon kindergarten and I walked up the hill from our house on Beacon Hill (where we lived with my Grandma Gladys in her house, which was a pink house) to the school which was at the very top of the hill. I vaguely remember my teacher Mrs. Willmer. She was very nice. She wrote neatly on the black chalkboard. She gave us saltine crackers for snack a lot of the time. I don't recall any of my classmates names, but what strikes me when I look at this photo is how diverse my class was! Asians, Caucasian, East Indian, Black, Hispanic. I love that!

The football season started and the holidays came and I lost interest in updating our blog page. But because of pleas from Ryan to start it up again, we're going to make an attempt to get it going and keep it up. Grandma Corrine!

So we had visitors for a month this summer... Grandma Corrine, Sadie and Valerie! We've had lots of fun, and in the next few days I'll post lots of photos of everybody. Here are some that feature Grandma. (This is the longest I have EVER seen my mother's hair. I like it down the best)

Summer Vacation 2009

Its been several weeks since the last post and I have lots of new pics to upload here. We've been on vacation.

Jeepin'

So it's HOT this week. Humidity factored in puts us in the triple digits. I think it was at least 103 today. But I'll be darned if the girls are mostly oblivious to it. Lucky them. They drug the princess jeep from the side of the house, and we charged it up and off they went!

Hula Hoopin'

Just so you can see what entertains our family on many occasions I have posted this video of the girls hula-hooping. Sorry for the poor lighting. I'm no expert.

Feeding Their Dollies

Lindsey has been such a good example to Naomi & Fiona of how loving and caring a Mommy ought to be. They get to watch her care for her babies, and they are definitely paying attention. I know, because both girls have shown me how they feed their baby dolls, and they didn't learn it from me!

Naomi's Spring Concert

This was Naomi's third and last spring concert for Germantown Baptist Preschool. We always enjoy the performances because there are some very entertaining songs. This year our favorites were Miss Mary Mack (Mack Mack All Dressed in Black Black Black) and The Humpty Dumpty Rap (all the girls sing Humpty Dumpty ~ all the boys sing Humpty Dumpty ~ girls and boys sing Humpty Dumpty!) I want to thank Cameron & Carolyn, Lindsey & Adam and Delaney and Holly for coming to the performance and supporting Naomi. Was it worth it going to Cici's Pizza afterwards for dinner on Dad? I know Ryan would have been there if he could have. Ryan, you'll just have to live the night thru these photos.

The Long Black Wig

We have this long black wig that brings out the dramatic side of the girls. When they put it on they transform into little imitations of Diana Ross. They love to fling their locks over their shoulder and peek thru the long strands with eyes full of drama. Sometimes there are brief fights over who gets to wear the wig, but all in all it has been such a fun thing for the girls to have in their dress-up box. Here are photos of Fiona wearing the wig the other day.

Easter continued...

I found these really cute pre-stuffed plastic eggs at Walmart. Some looked like bugs, some like butterflies. I'll admit that I love the idea of buying eggs that all we had to do was toss them out in the yard.
I like Fiona's expression in this one. Don't know if the egg was empty or what, but her eyebrows make her look surprised.
Wanted to show how many wisteria blossoms we got this year. In Seattle the blossoms come after all the green leaves return. But here in Memphis the blossoms precede all the green leaves, which isn't as pretty.

Naomi lost her other front tooth. Actually, she finally let me pull it out after everybody got tired of looking at her snaggle-tooth.
Nothing like a nap with Daddy on the sofa ...aaahhhh.

What happened to Easter?

I realize its been a while since we've posted. Easter has come and gone and we didn't mark it very well. But we did celebrate! We did color eggs, go to a couple of egg hunts, get a visit from the Easter Bunny, and on Easter Sunday we went to church and remembered the Savior and most importantly his sacrifice and resurrection. Here are a few photos of the girls dying eggs.
